Solidarity Walk

From: Saturday, April 7 8:00 AM
To: Sunday, April 22 8:00 PM

In accord with Pope Francis’, Bishop Pates’, and the U.S. Bishops’ initiative Share the Journey – Love Your Neighbor, you are invited to grow more deeply aware of the needs of refugees, migrants, and immigrants by accompanying them on a reflective, spiritual journey at St. Mary–Holy Cross Parish, Elkhart. One on the Journey:A Solidarity Prayer Walk is a self-guided meditation amidst 12 color photographic images and written reflection of who you are and who you are called to be in solidarity with all people, especially poor and vulnerable people around the world and in our midst. The prayer walk is open from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm daily, April 7–22 except for the following times and dates (11:00 am to noon on April 8, 15 and 29 and 6:00 -8:00 pm on April 15) in the parish Social Hall at 460 NW Washington Ave., Elkhart. Additional resources are available focusing on Catholic teaching regarding those who are separated from family and home. This is an awe-filled experience for individuals and small groups.

You are also invited to question Sol Varisco, former immigration program director of the Diocese of Des Moines and current executive director of Justice For Our Neighbors, about issues facing immigrants, refugees, migrants and people on the move after 5:00 pm Mass, Saturday, April 21 and after 10:00 am Mass, Sunday, April 22 at St. Mary – Holy Cross Parish, 460 NW Washington Ave., Elkhart. An opportunity for myths to be dispelled and for peace to grow.
