Holypalooza:the Inside-Outside PicnicIt’s time for our family to gather for the annual reunion party and catch up on what’s been happening. Planning has started and your help is needed! First, put it on your calendar—Sunday, August 27, 11:30 am-2:00 pm. NEEDED NOW FROM YOU Back by popular demand will be the Wine Garden. Please drop off donations of wine to the office, Monday-Thursday, 8:00 am-4:00 pm. And, did you get some gift cards you just can’t use? We are looking for donations for our Bingo prizes. Prefer $5 increments but we’re not picky! You know, this picnic is just like family—it doesn’t cost anything but we need everyone to pitch in. Wanna help? Contact Gary Jones, or the office, 515.964.3038. Can you help? Setting up, sandwich prep, games, cleaning up--basically keeping the event running smoothly--somewhere there's a spot for you. Mark down when and where you can help out.

Retreat In Everyday LifeAn EMMAUS ON THE ROAD series! Tuesday mornings at OLIH (Tuesday evenings at Emmaus House) Starting Tuesday, September 26 (32-weeks) Facilitators @ OLIH: Barb Bennett, Myrna Udelhofen, Patty Cook Facilitators @ Emmaus House: Cindy Shaw or call 515.282.4839 WHY? Do you desire to know God? Not just know about God, but know God? Many of us sense that something is missing in life; that we want more out of our faith. We might work hard - participating in bible studies and faith formation groups, volunteering constantly, giving generously, etc, but oftentimes we don't feel that connection between our faith life and our everyday, "rubber meets the road" life. We might not feel or experience God in a tangible way. Have you experienced these feelings or longing? If so, the Ignatian Retreat In Everyday Life (R.I.E.L.) might be the retreat for YOU! This thirty-two week Retreat In Everyday Life offers the opportunity to see where and how God "break through" into our busy, daily lives so that we might grow in knowledge of both ourself and God; grow in an intimate relationship with God. WHAT'S EXPECTED? The retreat offers scriptures, reflections and questions to use in daily personal prayer to help us more readily recognize and hear the many ways that God personally communicates with us. In addition to committing to daily prayer (at least 30 minutes), the retreatants participate in a weekly group meeting and twice monthly private spiritual direction. FEE: The fee for this thirty-two week retreat is $400, (with the option of 8 monthly payments) a one-time fee of $25 for books and materials. A limited number of partial scholarships are available for those who demonstrate a need. Spiritual Direction with a trained spiritual director is $60 a month, which covers both monthly direction sessions and is paid directly to your spiritual director. Financial help is available for those in need! If you feel that this IS the right time for you for you to live this experience please begin the process by completing a short application . One of our facilitators will contact you after we receive your completed application. For additional information, please go to Emmaus House website and check out the Cindy's blog and links that offer more informational materials as well! If you still have questions please feel free to contact any of the facilitators listed above! ““Emmaus on the Road” - Emmaus House in Des Moines has some great opportunities and we want to help make them more accessible for YOU! So we, in collaboration with Eammaus House, want to offer the same great programs here at OLIH. The fees you pay to attend will be sent to Emmaus House to continue to support the great efforts and programming they provide.”
