2023 Lent at OLIH

Lent 2023: “Lord, I love you!”

The final words of Pope Benedict XVI are the inspiration for spending this Lenten season
as a time to grow in our relationship with Jesus.

Almsgiving

Every year we have a Lenten Project - this year we will be donating to Catholic Relief Services (CRS) Rice Bowl. Pick up your Rice Bowl at Church and let us grow our community by learning more about our brothers and sisters in Honduras, Philippines, and Kenya this year!

  • Use the calendar with your Rice Bowl for your family to learn, to give, and to be inspired.

  • Check out some new recipes from around the world.

  • Go to the CRS Rice Bowl website to learn more!

Every year Lent is a time of purification and final preparation for their full initiation into the Catholic Church for our catechumens (the adults preparing for Baptism). They specifically take time to reflect on and pray with the Gospels of the Samaritan woman (John 4:5-42), a man born blind (John 9:1-41), and the raising of Lazarus (John 11:1-45). This year I invite you to come and reflect on those same three gospels as a way of preparing yourself for the joy of Easter. The morning will consist of both individual and communal prayer time as we ponder the readings
