With Joy You Shall Draw Water

The most common question asked at Lent is “what are you giving up?” Lent is a season of fasting, praying and almsgiving, but Jesus will tell us in the Gospel reading on Ash Wednesday “do not be like the hypocrites…” the ones who want to make sure everyone knows that they are sacrificing. Although it is a time of sacrifice and self-denial it is also a time of joy. Joy is one of the fruits of the Holy Spirit, it runs deeper than your basic emotions and is deepened by our connection with God! This Lent may we recognize the joy in our giving, the joy in our prayer, and the joy in our fasting!

Be sure to pick up your copy of the OLIH Lenten Booklet! You can also follow the blog and hear recordings for weekend and holy day Masses, which will give you ways to sink deeper each day!
