Love Lunches is a summer lunch program for children and their families in the city of Ankeny that provides healthy, fresh-cooked meals Monday-Friday. It is supported by church donations and is not affiliated with the school district. You can volunteer to help for a few days, weeks, or all summer. Teens can volunteer; it's a great way to earn credit for Silver Cord or Scouts.
Volunteer Options: (full description & hours are on the sign-up)
- Prepare the food 9:00-11:00am (with other volunteers at Ankeny First United Methodist Church)
- Transport and serve the food at Sunset Park 11:00am-1:00pm
- Donate non-perishable, individually wrapped/packaged items (goldfish, applesauce cups, granola bars, animal crackers, etc.)
- Donate grocery & gift cards from Costco, Sam's Club, Fareway, Aldi, etc.
