Mary Sankey

Faith Formation Coordinator, Early Childhood & Special Needs

Mary Sankey is an Associate Director of Faith Formation, but her first job is being a mom to two beautiful little boys.  You might see her at Mass offering up extra prayers of thanksgiving and seeking the Lord’s strength.  Her boys are gifts and conduits of grace that continue to shape her on her path to sainthood.

Mary Sankey first started attending Our Lady’s in 1987 when her family moved to Ankeny from El Dorado, Kansas.  Mary spent many weekends of her youth at the church as her mom volunteered as a kindergarten catechist and her dad helped stock the classrooms each week with supplies.  In her teen years, Mary volunteered in the kindergarten classrooms and never imagined that she would one day be an Assistant Director at OLIH.  With the help of amazing Catechists, Teen Volunteers, Nursery Assistants, and Special Needs Faith Friends, Mary gets the privilege to provide classroom curriculum and materials for both our Early Childhood and Special Needs Faith Formation as well as coordinate Baptism classes and oversee the Parish Nursery.

Mary Graduated from Iowa State University in 2008 with a degree in Communication Studies and minors in Music and Religious Studies.  She also holds a Certificate in Catechesis from the University of Dayton (2020).  Mary has held various positions in the nonprofit and State sector helping children and families.  She is blessed to be a member of Our Lady’s Immaculate Heart Church.
