Meet the Staff

Joan came to OLIH (via California) in January 2009 to first take on the Front Desk Secretary position. Arriving in the midst of the parish's 50th Anniversary and renovation work, she quickly became immersed in the history of the parish. Besides compiling the commemorative yearbook directory that year, she has spearheaded efforts to capture OLIH & St Michael 'artifacts' for our historical display.

Currently she serves as Communications Coordinator and is responsible for producing the bulletin,our weekly Updates, posting to social media, producing printed materials, scheduling events, setting up displays and generally 'making things look pretty."

Joan is originally from Omaha, NE where she attended Holy Name Grade & High School. Fifteen years and three kids later, she attained her Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration (option of Public Relations/Organizational Communications) from Cal State University Hayward. She coupled her degree with experience in communications in her jobs at the Contra Costa County Times and the Contra Costa County Office of Education. She has also served as a member of the board and Past-President of the California School Public Relations Association (CalSPRA).
