Tom earned his Master of Divinity from the University of Dubuque Theological Seminary and completed his clinical pastoral education at UnityPoint in Des Moines. He served nearly a decade as a pastor in the United Methodist tradition before transitioning into the financial services sector, as a licensed representative with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

On All Saints Day in 2004, Tom entered into full communion with the Roman Catholic Church. Three years later, he began his lay ecclesial ministry, serving across the full spectrum of catechesis, including campus ministry. In 2019, Tom became an Oblate of St. Benedict at St. John’s Abbey in Collegeville, MN, deepening his commitment to Benedictine spirituality.

Tom has also taught as an adjunct professor, offering college‑level courses in world religions, philosophy, and ethics. In 2025, he completed certification as a Spiritual Director.

Drawing from his background in pastoral ministry, finance, teaching, and spiritual direction, Tom brings a rich breadth of experience to Our Lady’s Immaculate Heart. As Operations Director, he oversees the parish’s operational and business functions, coordinates staff responsibilities, supports pastoral planning, and stewards parish resources with care and integrity.

Tom  and his wife, Diane have an adult son, Samuel, who serves in the Iowa National Guard and is a full-time aircraft mechanic. Tom & Diane are active in the marriage ministry of OLIH and the Diocese of Des Moines.

In their free time, Tom and Diane, enjoy the outdoors; walking, hiking, backpacking, snowshoeing, kayaking, bicycling and camping.

Tom’s office hours follow the same schedule as the posted parish office hours.
