Thank you for stepping up to support and partner with the families of Our Lady’s Immaculate Heart. Below you will find information and training specific to the area you are volunteering.
We hold in-person trainings for all catechist and support volunteer positions every fall as we near our faith formation year start date.

ALL VOLUNTEERS
MUST COMPLETE THE FOLLOWING:
Our Lady’s Immaculate Heart takes the safety of our youth very seriously. We participate in the Des Moines Diocese Safe Environment – Protecting God’s Children program. All our catechists, staff members, and volunteers who work closely with children are required to comply with this training.
Catechists & Support Staff Volunteers: are required to complete the following before the first meeting with youth.
Online Virtus (Safe Environment) Training - This training is required and must be completed by all NEW Catechists & Volunteers who have contact with youth under the age of 18. This training must be completed by an in-person live or Online training, PRIOR to volunteering. Please print the instructions then click this training link to complete the online session (takes about an hour).
Background Screening Application - All new Catechists & Support Staff Volunteers are required to submit this form. Veteran Catechists and Volunteers are required to renew this form every 7 years (a staff member will contact you at the appropriate time). This form must be submitted PRIOR to volunteering. PLEASE NOTE: There is a signature required on each page. Unfortunately the processing agencies will not accept an electronic (typed) signature. Please print the forms, sign them and then they can be sent to TOM PRIMMER for processing.
Acknowledgement of Handbook & Code of Conduct- All Catechists and Volunteers must receive and acknowledge receipt of this HANDBOOK and the DIOCESAN CODE OF CONDUCT on an annual basis. There is an acknowledgement form you must sign each year that can be found in the handbook. Please click on the link in the handbook to provide proof that you received the above materials. Thank you.
