Would you be willing to volunteer with 3-5 other parishioners about 4 or so hours a month for about 4 months to work with recently arrived refugee families. You will be helping families after their first 90 days here to meet the goal of becoming self-sufficient. Help them learn about their new home in Des Moines and the surrounding area and practice English with them. Catholic Charity staff will introduce you and support you along your journey with the refugees. It is a fantastic opportunity to learn about different cultures and to live out our Catholic faith as we welcome the stranger amongst us. We need help: Catholic Charities Refugee Resettlement program has survived recent cuts and is now in need of supplies as they prepare to welcome 75 family units and 175 individual refugees this year. They are in need of the following (leave in basket in GAthering Space or in the office: Laundry Detergent, All Purpose Cleaner, Toilet Paper(8-12roll packages), Paper towels(2-6) pack, Dish Soap, Twin/full size sheets, blankets, comforters(new or gently used), NEW Bed Pillows, Dishwashing Liquid
