Randy Hendersen
Youth Ministry Director
Randy was raised in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and came to Ankeny via Madison Wisconsin in 2010.
As the youth minister for Our Lady’s Immaculate Heart, Randy walks with youth, young adults, parents and families in grades 9-12 and beyond on the road to becoming disciples. He provides spiritual and vocational direction and mentors the youth of our parish. Through youth group events, mission trips, retreats, and directing our youth leadership team CORE, he teaches our young people how to make their life a prayer, a relationship with Jesus Christ and His Church by creating spaces and encounters that celebrate and engage the issues, challenges, gifts and joys of our young church at OLIH. His mission is to walk with our young people and their families through personal example, through service, prayer and fellowship so they may encounter Jesus and share Him with others.
Randy attended Catholic school grade PK-12 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa at St. Pius X and then Regis High school. He received his BA in Religious Studies from University of Iowa and his Masters in Religious Studies & Theology from Edgewood College in Madison Wisconsin. He has been a lay youth minister for 12 years, which he considers a joy, and celebrates having done so with his wife and best friend Abby Henderson, who has a special gift and love for ministering to our middle-schoolers here at OLIH.
